Tommie W. Whitener is a literary-fiction author living in Novato, California. He came to fiction late, after a forty-five-year legal career — first as a criminal-defense attorney, later in family law. He earned his undergraduate degree at UCLA and his law degree at UC Hastings College of the Law. His writing influences include Anton Chekhov, Anthony Marra, and Joan Didion.
